Xstrata Community Fun Day— 17 July 2011
The day started from 8.30am with over 200 people in attendance including international player/coach Adam Staub, Australian Special Olympic champion Daniel Cumming, his mother Julie and the presidents of Dysart and Middlemount Tennis Clubs Brendan O’Sing and Mark Anderson.
Highlights of day included a helicopter ball drop, celebrity match, hot shots, adult/child and mixed tournaments.A sumptuous breakfast and lunch was cooked by the volunteers and the Grade 7’s with food provided by ESS.
The assistance of sponsors Xstrata, Tennis Qld, Longbolt and the efforts of hard working volunteers made the day a great success with everyone having a lot of fun.
Junior Development Series
Dysart – 13 August 2011 & Middlemount—4 September 2011
Players travelled from as far as Rockhampton Springsure, Emerald, Dysart, Middlemount, Tieri and Capella to compete in these events. Outstanding players from Russell Tennis Academy included Max Skellern, Dreace Hertrick, Chris Anderson, Jackson Weir, Nicholas Barry, Brodie Metcalfe, Hayden Wright-Marchant, Bren-dan Buckholz, Amy Slater, Kaitlyn Earea, Katherine Campbell, Kelsy Pownall, Kaitlyn Buckholtz and Claire Chittick.
Congratulations to everyone especially those who competed for their first time.
The Junior Development Series is a series of tournaments held throughout the region for children aged from under 9 to under 17. The competition gives participants match play experience and confidence providing a pathway to the next level of competitive play.
